We have had a request for a card shower. Pastor Nora Mendyk is turning 70 on Sept. 2 and her daughters have requested us to send cards starting August 1. If you would like to send her one, please get ahold of me or Myra as I do not want to put her address out here on Facebook. You can message me on here or text me at (402) 303-2967 or email me at [email protected]. Pastor H
I have added a scripture study on the bulletin. It is not mandatory. It is just something that I use daily to center myself and spend a little bit of time each day with God so I thought I would share it with you. So, for the week of July 29th to August 5th here are the scriptures: July 29: Luke 5:13-16 July 30: Psalm 8 July 31: Jeremiah 20:7-18 August 1: Ecclesiastes 5:1 August 2: Genesis 22:1-11 August 3: Matthew 6:5-6 August 4: Matthew 14:13 August 5: 26:36-46; 27:32-50 If you do not want to use these, you can search online for scripture writing and you will find all kinds of plans. Blessings, Pastor H
If you have not seen the movie I encourage you to do so. It is true and powerful. This is one of my favorite Christian groups and songs. Pastor H
New Church time at the Giltner United Methodist Church, 10am. Come join.
From Bishop Gary Mueller (Arkansas UMC) The Muck and Mess of Life It happens every time something horrible happens. Which means it happens a great deal. As people struggle to make sense of all the terrible things that happen in life, they somehow reach the conclusion that God is responsible and, therefore, that the terrible thing that has happened has to be good. It’s understandable why people end up at this place. But it’s still wrong. Because while God is mysterious and acts in ways beyond our understanding, God does not inflict pain, injustice or tragedy. Pain is pain, injustice is injustice and tragedy is tragedy – and not the work of God. Thankfully, however, God is always present in the muck and mess of life bringing transformation, new birth, reconciliation, abundant joy and hope in all the ways that matter most. So look for God in the muck and the mess. You’ll be amazed by what you see.
So, I made it down to Great Bend, Kansas. We are at the Heartland Center for Spirituality for our 2nd week of licensing school. This will be my home for the week. I will post as I can. You are all in my prayers. I can still be gotten ahold of while I am here. My phone number is 402-303-2967 or my email is [email protected]. I pray your week is blessed and peaceful. Be blessed. Something for you to remember
Good evening everyone. I hope that everyone is staying safe, cool and hydrated in this heat. I spent a good portion of Monday and Tuesday at a retreat and it has gotten me thinking. How many of us have a special place that we go to be alone with God and to rejuvenate our spirits other than church on Sunday mornings? Do we even think about how important it is or do we focus on our to do lists so much that everything else disappears? Lord as we settle in for the night and wake tomorrow help us to see what truly is important. Open our eyes and show us what we truly need to do and to feel the importance so much that we take the time to do it. Keep each and everyone safe and healthy in this heat. May those going through crisis get the help they need. Those who are ill have healing. Those who need be filled. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen
I apologize for not having the service live today. Unfortunately my phone broke and I just now got a temporary phone and the person that normally videos was gone today. My temporary number is 402-303-2967 if you need me. Thank you and again I apologize. Pastor Heather
